Health Ministry - Senior Exercise Program

Senior Exercise is offered three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 to 10 am in the Parish Center as recommended by the National Institutes of Health.

This National Institute of Health program is designed to offset complications of aging and keep us able to continue doing our ADLs (activities of daily living) as we age gracefully. Most activities include sitting in a chair or behind a chair, stretching and doing resistant exercises with weights and bands to maintain strength.

St. Christina sponsors a free low-impact exercise program for seniors over 55. The National Institute of Health guidelines for seniors are used with the goal of offsetting frailty and maintaining activities of daily living. Class is about 50 minutes and everyone works to their capacity. Come one, two, or three days.

Chronic illness or age are not contraindications of joining us. In fact, our exercises have been shown to improve health problems like diabetes and hypertension and arthritis. Our regular participants are encouraged to return, and we invite new people to join us.

Please join our exciting, joyful, inspiring group if you have not joined yet. Please contact Eileen McDermott (773-445-0802 or etmcd@usa.net) or Joan (312-758-1471) if interested, or better yet, give us a visit.
