Easter Vigil Celebration and Our 2024 OCIA Participants - Pictures
March 30, 2024

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello, my name is Colleen Lacny. I may be familiar to some of you as I have been coming to St. Christina since around 2007. I live in the neighborhood with my husband Nick and we were married at St. Christina in 2010. We have fifteen nieces and nephews. I work full-time as an MRI technologist. I love spending time with family, traveling, reading, and being outdoors when the weather is nice. I have family in Iowa and visit them many weekends. I joined the OCIA program to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. One of my nieces was confirmed a couple of years ago and I realized I wanted to do the same. I have been blessed to be Godmother to three family members and wish to set a good example for them too.

My name is Kellylyn Kotowski, and I joined the OCIA program to complete my sacraments and fully emerge into the Catholic faith. I grew up attending Catholic Masses and eventually chose to go to a Catholic high school and then Catholic college and loved it. I am finally able to complete my sacraments through St. Christina after many awaited years. I’m so grateful and excited to fully join the Catholic Church.

Hello, my name is Alex Cuyos. I’m 25 years old. I entered the OCIA program to receive my Sacrament of Confirmation. I was born in the Philippines and later came to America at 11 and ended up in Orland Park after years of moving around. I was very active, participating in sports like basketball and volleyball, while also dipping my toes in music through band. I wanted to know and understand more, to be closer to my faith and God. After joining OCIA I felt like I grew more into the community that I wanted to be part of and I am ecstatic about being part of something larger and continuing to build not only my knowledge but also my faith.

Hi, my name is Eva Richardson. I am from Chicago, Illinois. I am a vibrant individual with a myriad of passions spanning culinary arts, fashion, and wellness. In the summer of 2023, I attended St. Christina Church, discovering solace and community in the parish. I started attending the OCIA class on Monday evenings. This experience not only enriched my faith but also instilled God’s love, compassion, and resilience. I will be receiving the Sacrament of Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation at the Easter Vigil on March 30, 2024.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

My name is Sarah Arteaga and I am a longtime resident of Chicago’s south side Beverly neighborhood. I am an art teacher at Saint Rita of Cascia High School and have been teaching Visual Art in Chicago for over twenty years. I made the journey through OCIA because I want my family to be part of a faithbased community which has been very welcoming!

I have two children. My son Alex is twelve and my daughter Isabella is eight. My children attend Clissold Elementary School and made their Communion and Baptism here at St. Christina. My husband Joseph Arteaga is a Local 597 Pipefitter and is known around the area for his skills as a drummer and bass player.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alex Arteaga - Alex is 12 and attends Clissold Elementary. His favorite subjects are social studies and geography. He plays drums in the school band. Alex is a ‘techie’ and loves computers, video games, and YouTube. He received the Sacrament of Baptism and First Holy Communion at our Easter Vigil.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Isabella Arteaga - Isabella is 8 and attends Clissold Elementary. Her favorite subjects are science and art, and she cannot decide if she wants to be a veterinarian or an art teacher! She loves animals, drawing, and making things like paper dragons, masks, and story illustrations. Bella received her Sacrament of Baptism and First Holy Communion at the Easter Vigil.
