Flu Shot and Immunization Clinic - October 1, 2017

Recently, St. Christina sponsored an Immunization Clinic for children over 10 and all adults, young and old. Laura, the pharmacist from the Jewel-Osco in Merrionette Park, and her staff were available in the Parish Center, before and after almost all of the Masses and provided flu, pneumonia, shingles, and hepatitis vaccines. This clinic followed the Savvy Senior Program earlier this month where Laura presented the information about this very important health benefit which we all have. Contrary to some myths, immunizations save lives, prevent needless suffering, and protect the general public from infections.

For those unable to attend the Clinic, pharmacists are always available at the Jewel-Osco Pharmacy at 115th and Kedzie. Walk-ins are the norm.

Religious Education Program sponsors a Prayer Service in Memory of September 11, 2001

from September 11, 2011

Saint Christina Religious Education and School Students
remember the families affected by the 9-11-01 Tragedy.

On September 11, 2011, the Religious Education teachers, student and parents gathered for a beautiful prayer service at St. Christina Mary Plaza to observe in memory of the 2, 993 people who lost their live in the September 11, 2001 attacks on the Untied States. The date happened to fall on September 11, 2011 and this year's observance commemorating the 10th year anniversary of the attacksSarah Wilson (5th grade student) ended the prayer service by playing Amazing Grace.

Each child was given a flag which was placed around the perimeter of the rectory as a token of remembrance for all of the victims.

Saint Christina students and faculty also paid tribute to the families who lost loved ones in the tragic event. The ceremony started off with a prayer in the classrooms and then gathered around the flagpole where they joined in saying the Pledge of Allegiance, had a moment of silent prayer and reflection, and then concluded with singing "Proud to be An American". It was a very touching and respectful event.

Volunteering at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) in Aurora - July 25, 2009

It was an incredible experience. We worked our 2-hour shift (which seemed like only 1 hour) at Feed my Starving Children in Aurora. We were responsible for putting labels on plastic bags. Each bag feeds 1 person 6 meals. At the end of our session 90 of us had completed enough bags of food for 70 people for 1 year. We all felt as thou we had made a difference in 70 people's lives. This food is shipped all over the world. We had 20 of us from Saint Christina and 4 of the 20 were our own Saint Christina youth getting their service hours in.
